WOMEN’S HEALTH PROJECT
The DTA Women’s Health Project is offering Integrated Awareness®
sessions and classes to women experiencing breast, cervical or ovarian cancer,
and to their family, friends and caregivers. This is a program of self-healing
through self-discovery, and we work in conjunction with other health care,
not in place of other health care.
Integrated Awareness® is a healing art that helps people to experience higher quality of life through choice, awareness, compassion and acceptance, using expanded consciousness and gentle touch and movement. A pilot study has shown that Integrated Awareness® can help women with breast cancer have decreased side effects from chemotherapy, have improved mood and attitude, and feel better overall. Integrated Awareness® Teachers at DTA are professionally certified, with years of experience and advanced training.
Women who have or have had breast, ovarian or cervical cancer, and their support network (family, friends and caregivers) are all welcome to participate in this program. Payment can be discussed by calling the DTA office (667-6783). Payment options typically include self-pay (sliding fee scale available), insurance (limited access, physician referral needed), or payment through scholarship funds. Full scholarship funds are currently available for women who are experiencing or have experienced breast cancer. **
We ask all project participants to fill out a quality of life measure (a short questionnaire) before their first session, and after each session. We also ask that participants agree to three sessions and one class initially, and then choose how much more involvement they want on an individual basis.
To schedule a session, class or free consultation, call Stacey at (207) 667-6783.
**Through the generosity of the Holt Foundation, who have granted a scholarship
fund through DTA, we can offer IA® sessions and classes free of charge
to women who have, or have had, breast cancer. These scholarships are currently
available through the Women with Breast Cancer fund. Please inquire at DTA
for more information, or to access this benefit.
Check back soon for classes being offered in June.
If you've participated in sessions and need to fill out the feedback form, you can access it here. Print it off, fill in out and please send it to us.
