Explore
physical healing, personal growth, and deepened spiritual connection
through individual sessions and group workshops.
As human beings we encompass many different levels of consciousness: physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual. All of these levels of consciousness are accessible through our physical bodies, and can be healed through touch, energy and awakened awareness. Restoring movement where it has been inhibited while integrating aspects of ourselves which have been separated are at the heart of Integrated Awareness®
Individual Sessions
Generally an hour in length, an individual session begins with you stating your desires for change. Led by your express desires, you are supported in discovering ways to achieve personal healing and growth. During a session, you are generally fully clothed, on a massage table. Some or all of a session may also be done sitting or standing depending on your preference and the flow of the session. "Aqua IA" sessions are also offered which use the supportive environment of water.
Group Workshops
Integrated Awareness® workshops offer an opportunity for people to gather in a supportive community setting to explore healing focused on a particular topic. Movement sequences may be explored in standing, sitting or lying on the floor. At times you may also work with another person or in a small group. Healing in a community setting expands the richness of the experience and often creates a network of support.
Workshops are offered as:
Customized Workshops
Customized
workshops are provided for couples, families and other small groups.
This gives you an opportunity to work as a group on a topic of your
choice. People choose customized workshops for a number of reasons,
including deepening their relationships, resolving long-standing
family issues, improving communication or exploring a topic of interest.
The duration and price of custom workshops will depend on the nature
of your request and your intended outcomes for the workshop-they
may be from a couple of hours to a full days length.

The CranioSacral system consists of cerebrospinal fluid enveloping the brain and spinal cord, contained within a membrane (the Dura Mater). The central nervous system is contained within the CranioSacral system. Any difficulties with the CranioSacral system can result in ill health, affecting daily function, comfort, mobility, self-regulation, attention, communication, behavior, and many other areas. CranioSacral Therapy is an approach used by trained providers that uses a set of skilled releases at many physiological levels to restore health and vitality to the CranioSacral system. A typical session lasts one hour, and the guest lies fully clothed on a massage table. The sessions are typically very relaxing and refreshing, and a guest may choose regular or periodic sessions, depending on their needs and desires. All providers and healers at DTA are trained in CranioSacral therapy.

Physical Therapy
is commonly referred to as PT.
PT is a combination (modality) of CranioSacral, Zero Balancing and
Myofascial therapy. These are used in any sequence or individually to
fit each persons needs. Physical therapy helps strengthen the body.
Damage caused by an injury can be assisted in the healing process with
this program. Designed towards prevention education, physical therapy
is individualized towards your special needs. Sara
Pierce is a certified PT/CST on staff at DTA.
CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy
(CST) is a gentle, light-touch method of evaluating and enhancing the
craniosacral system, the environment in which the brain and spinal cord
function. A CS Therapist will use their skills to facilitate fascial
and soft-tissue release and will evaluate and work with the entire body.
An imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system can cause sensory,
motor or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic
pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments and
learning disabilities, as well as other physical and psychological problems.
Faith Perkins and Karen Hedger are
the CST's on staff at DTA.
Zero Balancing
Zero Balancing (ZB)
is a revolutionary development in body work of the last quarter century.
ZB provides a unified approach to mind/body healing. In ZB there is
particular importance placed on the "interface", when and
where energy and structure meet. A fulcrum, when sustained, will often
stimulate a deep reaction within the being. Holding this space open
is akin to quiet forms of meditation. These fulcrums are applied in
specific sequence to the key points and areas of energetic significance
in the body "foundation joints" that have a limited range
of motion. Soft tissue pain and dysfunction are often relieved through
ZB. Headaches, neck and shoulder pain, low back dysfunction and many
other physical symptoms may be dramatically affected by such applications.
(ZB description was taken from an excerpt from an article in Massage
Therapy Journal, Winter 1994, vol. 33 #1)
Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation is a manual therapy consisting of light, gentle, specifically placed touch that encourage increased mobility, tone and inherent tissue motion. These manipulations have the potential to affect normal function of individual organs and the structual integrity of the entire body.

Speech Therapy (ST)
At DTA, we look at communication as a pyramid based in engagement, with interaction, communication (the sending of signals, verbal or non-verbal), language (an agreed upon symbol system), and speech (the formation of sounds) layered on top. We look at each level, assess contributing factors to success and challenges, and work from there to remove roadblocks and encourage new skills and behaviors. We take a developmental perspective, and work with total communication (using all avenues available for receptive and expressive language, such as sign language, gestures, pictures and assistive technology). Part of our unique approach is our ability to integrate development and learning style across develpmental areas, drawing from our partners' expertise. This allows and encourages a whole child, whole family approach to early childhood function, including communication.

Developmental Therapy (DT)
Developmental Therapy servcies are designed to enhance a child's overall development by addressing motor, communication, cognitive, social, functional and play skills. Goals are developmed with parents, are outcome driven, and are designed to make positive change in the child's daily life. Services include teaching consultation to parents.
Developmental Therapy can take place in a variety of settings. Along with the direct work with children, therapists at DTA provide training and consultation to programs and aides.
